Review of Ghosts

By Raina Telgemeier

The book Ghosts is about a girl named Catrina, her family, and her little sister named Maya who has cystic fibrosis; there is no cure for that.

They are moving North and to the coast from southern California. When they get to their new house and they are halfway through unpacking, Maya must have one of her breathing treatments, but it blows a fuse, so Catrina takes her little sister to explore the new town.

Maya discovers a secret pathway and they end up at a closed arcade, where a boy tells them about a “ghost tour”, and they hurry out.

Later, Catrina goes to a place where people are celebrating Day of The Dead with their ghost relatives. With another ghost she goes flying with him on a “ghost tour” over the ocean.

I liked this book because it was very cultural, and it showed a lot of love.

Review of Underground

By Haruki Murakami

This book is a collection of interviews of people who lived through the Tokyo Gas Attack of 1995. A religious cult called Aum Shinrikyo released sarin, a deadly gas, on three lines of the Tokyo Metro. Many were killed, even more severely injured, and countless others are now plagued with serious, long-term health effects of the attack. Many different people are interviewed, and all offer a unique perspective of the attack. From members of Aum to subway employees, to the families of the deceased, this book covers a myriad of differing views. It concludes with an essay written by the author that primarily criticizes the Japanese mentality that was adopted following the attacks, as well as what actions were taken during it. This book is memorable, informative and will leave the reader thinking.

Review of The Cursed Child

By J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter's son is now ready to go to Hogwarts, but instead of being sorted into Gryffindor like his father, he gets sorted into Slytherin. He teams up with a friend and goes back in time with a stolen time-turner, accidentally creates wrinkles in time, and has to fix it! Unlike the other books, this one was a play and later was put in book format for us to read.

This book follows the angst-filled teenager, Holden Caulfield after he is kicked out of school for failing most of his classes. Following his expulsion, he plans to come home when his school's Christmas break starts so that he won't be present when his parents notice his displacement. So, he spends his time in hotels, clubs and in the companies of people he hasn't seen in a while. He goes through the journey disgusted with other people's phoniness, lonely and bitter. This book has themes of innocence, alienation as a means of self-preservation, as well as the trouble of leaving childhood and becoming an adult. A classic coming-of-age novel.

"I Am The Messenger", is an adventurous novel that features a man named Ed Kennedy, who is ana underage cab driver. He gets playing cards in the mail which leaves him to believe that he's the Messenger. In the end, Ed finds out that he isn't the Messenger, he is the Messenger.

Review of Whisper

By Lynette Noni

As a young adult, Alyssa Scott, is kept in a small cell, pryed for her knowlegde and is given the smallest amount of resoures in order to servive. Facing many hardships, her largest on is her refusal too talk. Refusing to talk even when her life is threatened, Alyssa is forced to use her voice after something more valueable then her life is put in danger. The book takes a fantascy turn when Alyssa learns her voice holds its own super power, she cam control with her voice. She is realeasded from the prison cell and is put into a program for adolesents like her. Exploring her new life, she meets new love intrests who help her comprehend the truth of her suroundings.

Throughout the begining of " Whisper", I was lead to belive that the base of the storyline would be the main character's attempt to escape her current  prison-like cell and torturous enviroment. After a few chapters, the book took a sharp turn away from the expected theme. The presise wording brings the book alive, making you relive all the moments she is faced with.

Review of Inuyasha

By Rumiko Takahashi

I am an anime lover, but this in overall has been one of the best manga books I have ever read.  Is about the main character, Kagome, traveling back in time because she was destined to.  There, she encounters a group of friends who assist her in a quest to find the pieces of a sacred jewel in order to save the world.  A most read!

Review of Vampire Knight

By Matsuri Hino

For those who have seen the series on Netflix, the books are better (as all other books vs movies) in opinion.  It is a story about a love triangle filled with mystery, suspense, love and VAMPIRES!  I would recommend the series to all manga readers.

This book is so good.  The book is about a teenager's quest to find herself/himself?!  It's filled with drama, suspence and TEARS.  This book is highly recommended to audiences in search of themselves or to those who want to find out what goes out on a teenager's mind when they are involved in these types of situations.

Review of Hidden Figures

By Margot Lee Shetterly

This book is about three astounding women. Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, and Katherine Johnson. They were very inspiring and astounding people to me. They were in some of the first African American computers foes NASA. At the time it was called NACA. The book also talks about Christine Darden an amazing writer from there time. This book inspired the movie Hidden Figures.
